Paying Your BID Taxes
BILLING SYSTEM FOR BID TAX PAYMENT
D.C.’s Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) has implemented a new billing system. The online site (www.mytaxdc.gov) now allows users to manage all accounts online including real property and BID accounts. This is the first BID billing cycle to go through the new system. Below are a series of FAQs that may be helpful.
What does this new system mean for you?
DC businesses can track and pay taxes and, in many cases, eliminate the need for paper filing. The site gives users the option to pay property tax bills, manage accounts, and access customer service while safeguarding against fraud.
What is different from previous Dupont Circle BID tax cycles?
You will receive one unified bill for all your Real Property Tax, Penalties, Fees, and BID Tax. All payments will go to satisfy Real Property Tax, Penalties, and Fees before your BID Tax is paid. Only Property Owners will be able to request address or contact information changes.
What you should do:
- Register an account at https://mytax.dc.gov/_/.
- Verify your address and contact information.
- Contact your Mortgage Lender and Title company and inform them of the new system.
How to register with MyTax.DC.gov.
All property owners should already have an account setup with MyTax DC. If for some reason you need to set up an account, please do so at https://mytax.dc.gov/_/#1.
You will need:
- The "Notice Number" listed on a letter received from the Office of Tax and Revenue.
- The most recent return or payment information, depending on the tax account type.

BID Tax Rate
The Dupont Circle BID tax rates:
- Commercial Buildings at .09 cents per $100 of assessed value, plus 3%
- Hotel at $120 per room, plus 3%
- Residential units at $120 per unit, plus 3%
The BID tax will be split into two payments and submitted to the DC Office of Tax and Revenue where the tax bills will be generated. The tax bills are paid to the Office Tax and Revenue which accounts for the payments and then transfers the collected funds to the Dupont Circle BID.
