The Dupont Circle Business Improvement District will be partnering with Turning the Page to host a book sale, children’s story times, and a guitar concert in Dupont Circle park on Saturday, October 21 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Turning the Page links public schools, families and the community so that students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education. Turning the Page is charged with improving the education of public-school students by engaging their parents and families as active and effective participants in their children’s education.
Music will be provided by the Harmal Ensemble, which is a collective of musicians performing Middle Eastern classical and folk music based in New York City. Along with traditional music they also play original compositions influenced by Arabic, Persian, and African music.
“We are so happy to partner with Turning the Page to bring books to Dupont Circle park,” said Bill McLeod, Executive Director of the Dupont Circle BID. “By pairing music and books, we are able to create a relaxing and educational afternoon in the park welcoming to all people.”
This event was made possible by the Streets for People grant under the DC Office of Planning. This program seeks to support economic recovery and celebrate DC’s diverse culture by attracting people to a vibrant area of activated blocks, sidewalks, streets, and parks.
