Christkindlmarkt is Back In Person!

The Heurich House Museum’s Christkindlmarkt is back in person this year and will be held in its castle garden from Friday, December 3rd through Sunday, December 5th, 2021.

DC holiday shoppers will stroll through a festive German-style market featuring dozens of local craftspeople and artisans who will sell their goods during this celebratory holiday event.

The market will highlight the historic revival of the Chr. Heurich Brewing Co.’s Senate Beer, with tastings, a mini outdoor exhibit, and newly released merchandise.

CELEBRATING LOCAL MAKERS SINCE 1894…

Each December, the Heurich House Museum curates a 3-day holiday market in its garden. Inspired by German Christmas markets, the event features over 25 local vendors and includes a tour of the decorated historic house. Craftsmanship and entrepreneurship are an important part of the museum’s history. The Heurich mansion was built by local artisans in 1894: August Grass, a German immigrant and local craftsman, carved the ornate fireplace mantels; local artists painted its ceiling canvases; Baltimore sculptor Hans Schuler made some of the fixtures in the Conservatory. The home was commissioned by local entrepreneur, brewer Christian Heurich. The Heurich House Museum’s Incubator program supports and promotes creative businesses throughout the year. Christkindlmarkt is the museum’s largest annual fundraising event.
