Stoops have been a distinctive feature of city townhomes for centuries! The word "stoop" comes from the Dutch word “stoep,” meaning “stair." For many urban dwellers who did not have private outdoor space, stoops were used to congregate and come together as a community, before and after work. On Thursday, October 5^th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Interior Matter will be hosting a stoop party for the public.

Sarita Simpson, Meredith Margolis, and Jen Touchette – all businesspeople in Dupont had a vision: to strengthen the community, support local businesses, and meet neighbors. And the Stoop Party was born. The Stoop is located at 1724 20th Street NW and is the second Stoop party in a series of what they hope to be a multi-year event.

Sarita Simpson, owner and principal of Interior Matter, a premier interior design studio located in Dupont Circle since 2020, is proud to call the neighborhood home for her firm. Sarita and her team are eager to continue growing deeper roots in Dupont Circle and to foster new connections in the community with neighbors and other business owners.

Meredith Margolis and Jen Touchette have both lived in Dupont Circle for over 25 years. They have the #2 team in the region at Your P&rtners at Compass Real Estate. Meredith and Jen are Dupont neighbors and want to give back to the neighborhood they love so much.
