Learn to knit Bernie Sanders' Style Mittens with Shop Made in DC x Helen Fields

About this Event

Did you see Bernie’s mittens at the inauguration and think “I’m going to knit myself some just like that!” I’m sorry to say, you can’t knit mittens exactly like his, because his were made out of recycled sweaters. BUT, you can learn to knit a Bernie-inspired mitten! We will cover the skills required to knit a mitten, including knitting in the round, reading a pattern/chart, creating the thumb, and stranded colorwork. You will only get through a few inches of mitten during the two-hour workshop, but you’ll be on the road to success. Your kit will include: Enough wool yarn to make two brown Bernie-inspired mittens, the mitten pattern, and a set of double-pointed needles for knitting in the round.

NOTE: You must already know how to knit and purl. If you have not learned to knit yet, you may be interested in our Introduction to Knitting Workshop in March.
